airplane food, layovers, trains, and red light district- Europe here we come!
So Josh and I have FINALLY begun our Europe trip. After a short flight of about 8 1/2 hours, a wonderful and enjoyable layover of 4 hours, and receiving a much-desired 40 euro fine on the Frankfurt subway for not having a ticket, we were able to go back to our hotel room which luckily did not have bugs in the bed. Josh and I have officially joined the "I love airplane food" club after eating the delictable meals on our Air France flight. We arrived in Frankfurt at about 2:30 yesterday afternoon, and Josie and her boyfriend were there to meet us! We then went to our hostel to check-in. Unfortunatly, they said that our reservation had been canceled (???) and we had to find another hotel to sleep in. I guess we must have canceled it in our sleep. Anyways, they were really nice about finding us another hotel. So luckily, we did not have to sleep in the train station last night. This morning we woke up at 6:00 in order to catch our first train to Utrecht. After a couple of train switches, we got to Utrecht at about 1:00 this afternoon where it took us FOREVER to find our bed and breakfast. We searched the city high and low only to find that our hotel was 10 mins from the train station. Yes mom- we should have asked for directions sooner. Funny how in Holland we feel more scared to get run over by bikes than by cars. You just aren't cool here unless you ride a bike. After setting our crap down in the hotel room, we ran as fast as we could to the train station to catch a train that left in 5 minutes to Amsterdam. We caught it just in time and arrived in Amsterdam about 2 hours ago. We will write more later! We gotta go to a coffee shop :)
